Across The Universe comibnes the Beatles greatest hits with an unusual sotry line. The story revolves around Jude (Jim Sturgess)who travles to America in the mid 60s to find his lost father. there he falls in love with a young American girl, Lucy (Evan Rachel Wood). Her brother Max (Joe Anderson) is drafted to fight in the Vietnam War and the two become actively involved in peace activism.

The director Julie Taymor, used any direction she could to make the plot flow with the songs. The strawberry in the film seemed to be placed in their as the logo of a record lable only so the song, Strawberry Fields, could be placed in. When the story line seemed to die down, visual effects attempted to bring it back up. the effects made you feel like you were back in the 60s but also cause you to loose focus of what was happening.

All in all the movie was a good way to sit back and enjoy the Beatles done over by some amazing voices (Evan Rachel Wood and Jim Sturgess). However if you're going in to watch it and enjoy the story line this movie isn't about that. It's about sitting back and singing along with the Beatles while giving you some crazy colors and visuals to go along with.
